Wizkid’s refix of the song has very little to hold on to, other than the infusion of pidgin English, and the trusted vocals of our national conquering hero. You need to hear this for national pride, not for sound.

This year has been phenomenal for Wizkid. The Drake ‘One Dance’ collaboration has made him hit new heights, and given him more penetration in his quest to be Nigeria’s first crossover artiste. ‘Mamacita’, his song with Tinie Tempah was timely also, plugging him deep into a lot of scenes.
The singer has also worked his magic, recruiting Chris Brown, Trey Songz and French Montana for his single ‘Shabba’. Another song with DJ Henry X is also out, ‘Like this’, and it is currently being promoted in the US.
All of this has created a buzz for Wizkid on the international scene. That buzz has crept up to the Nigerian music industry, spotlighting our wealth of sounds and talent. We have a lot of eyes on our acts, and a tremendous amount of ears catching on to the melodies that we have championed and honed for so long. There’s Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Ayo Jay, on the books of foreign labels, with various beneficial deals for both parties.

DJ Khaled “Major Key,” the DJ’s ninth studio album, debuted at number one on the US Billboard album chart for the week through Thursday with sales of 95,000 copies or the equivalent in downloads and streaming, tracking service Nielsen Music said. I get sexually harassed—Annette Cookey

I started my music career in a church choir when I was about 10 years old. Along the line, I developed a keen interest in singing, though I never really saw myself as a musician. I was just singing in the choir because my mother wanted me to. When I gained admission into the University of Port Harcourt to study Physiology, a friend of mine told me about MTN  Project Fame West Africa. He was working with MTN at that time, and he told me it was going to be a good show. However, I was not really interested because I felt it was not real. But he went ahead to get the form online and filled it for me, saying I don’t have any excuse not to go. I then went for the auditions and made it into the academy. That was how my music career officially began. I eventually emerged the 3rd runner-up at the competition which was the first edition of MTN project fame. Annette-Cookey I am sure a lot of people will be wondering what has been happening to me since then. I am not going to say I am a sex symbol but for some reasons, I often get sexually harassed and that really affected me as a person. It has also affected my career in music because I don’t trust anyone anymore. They will tell you that they want to work with you because you’re so talented, and at the same time, they will want sexual favours from you, and I don’t think that is proper. There are a few people out there who are genuine and I am waiting to meet with the genuine ones. Basically, that is why I have not really put out much, and that is why my music is not seen to be as big as the likes of  Iyanya  and  Praiz  who were my co-contestants back then in the academy. Anyway, I have people who love me and who follow me up, whether I have a club banger or not.   You introduced yourself as an all-round entertainer, which aspects of entertainment are you referring to? I think all of them, but of course, I cannot be a jack of all trades and master of none. Music comes first before every other thing, while acting is more like a hubby I engage in to pass time. I will not say acting is a major profession for me, but music is what I do. Even when I am not releasing songs, I am always in the studio; either writing songs, or backing-up someone’s song. Music is like my daily routine; I’m always doing things that relate to music.
