BECAUSE OF THE BOY THEY BURNT IN LAGOS

Someone wrote:BECAUSE OF THE BOY THEY BURNT IN LAGOS
.
.
***Saving Mama***
Today, Mama's health condition worsened drastically, and the doctor threatened, despite my tears, to abandon mama and let her die if i don't find a way to fetch her food. You see, the treatment wouldn't work, because she hadn't eaten for days. There is no food at home, no money either. Sometimes, she falls when she stands, and cries like a baby, when the doctor's injections come rushing down her veins. It's painful!
Risikat, my younger sister, is a lorry-load of pain. I've seen her cry, countless times, because of Mama's state. Sometimes, she'd kneel before Mama, and tear her own clothe open, and bring out her little breast, and tell her to "suck and live," hoping to feed Mama with breastmilk. But she is only five years old, and hasn't eaten for days either. So no breastmilk comes out... And that makes her cry.
Sometimes, Lagos is a city. But most times, it's a battlefield! I got tired of the war at home and i raced to the market for help. I had a little bowl, no larger than a baby's head, and i walked from table to table...begging for food; begging for love. I thought they'd understand, by looking at my face, how much I've been through, and how my mother's life depends on how much food i go back home with. I told them of how Papa had died two years ago; but no one cared. They talked about recession, and of problems here and there. None spared a drop, none stooped to give. No one!
People are hesitant to help the poor...they'd watch you fall and crawl, weeping for help, and refuse to help. But the very rich get all the favours in the world, without even asking. I thought Tunde's mother would help me out with a cup of garri from her table. She refused. I stole a handful and ran away...I thought she would forgive!
It makes me cry, when i see people who are cheerful givers, only when they wish to hurt. I mean, the vulcanizer who had refused to give me little money to buy food for Mama suddenly donated a tyre worth thousands of naira, for the mob to burn me with. Mama Tunde suddenly forgot about recession and donated a litre of petrol for them to burn me with. Everybody is donating matchsticks, and i'm wondering: Why this generosity? Why is the recession suddenly over? Why were they stingy until now?
See, I'm not saying it's okay to steal. I'm saying it is okay to forgive. I'm saying a little kindness would have gone a long way.
I'm not scared of death, or the mob anymore. I'm scared of those that live as though they are already dead - heartless, merciless. I am scared of people who act as if they are sacrosanct and unbiased. To my murderers, i ask: if at home, you discover that your son, or brother, or nephew stole a handful of garri from the storeroom, will you kill him? Will you shout at the top of your voice till the whole neighborhood gathers about him? Why not just scold me... And let me live?
Tell Risikat that I couldn't save us. Tell her to gather my ashes when I am done burning...But never tell Mama that the handful of garri that revived her had been gotten in exchange for my life.
Tell God I'm dead, and, I was killed by men meaner than the devil himself!
Tell Lagos: I came, I saw, and I conquered...somehow!
Tell yourself that I'm gone, forget that I ever lived!
Tell me goodbye...say no more. That'll be enough for my lifeless bones........SAVE A SOUL BY PASSING IT ON# THE LITTLE BOY IS MORE STRONGER THAN THE HERCULES YOU KNOW

See how a 7yrs old boy was murder in cool blood

A video which went virile on social media showed
some group of people beating, stoning and finally
setting a boy between the age 7-16 ablaze, for
allegedly stealing garri.
This is even as some accounts circulating on
social media said the young boy allegedly stone a
phone and stabbed the victim.
Vanguard however, could not verify the
authenticity of these claims at press time.
In a statement by Usman Abubakar, the Acting
National Publicity Secretary, Wailing Wailers, the
group said: “We want to call the attention of the
Governor of Lagos State Governor, His Excellency
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, to the cruelty
meted against one young man reported to be
between the age of 7-16 years old accused of
stealing Garri in Badagry area of Lagos State.
“The boy was killed by mob action as seen in the
video circulating on social media, a copy posted
and pinned to our official Twitter Handle
@NGRWailers.
“We as a group, concerned with democracy and
civic rights of Nigerian citizens totally condemn
the sadistic and barbaric act of the killers in
strong terms.
“We call on Mr. Governor as the Chief Security
officer of the state and all the state security
agencies to wade into actions immediately and
bring the perpetrators to book, the gory videos
and pictures circulating on the internet can be
leads to the arrest of killers of the young man.
“We don’t encourage any citizen to engage in any
theft, criminality or stealing of any form but even
if the boy stole more than Garri as alleged online
by some section of sympathizers, that does not
warrant that the people should take laws into
their own hands, at best, he could have been
handed over to the nearest police station for
investigation and be dealt with in accordance with
the law of the land.
“The matter have become a subject of national
discourse and the good people of Nigeria wants
to know how the state governor will handle the
case to ensure that the family of the young man
gets a fair justice for the deceased.
“The worrisome and sad part as shown in the clip
was that matured Nigerians, male and female
who are likely to be residence of the area
gathered and watched how the boy was subjected
to a horrible pain before his death.
“Some of them were even encouraging the killer
on how he should kill the boy, this does not
speak well of the oneness, peace, tolerance and
love our forefathers fought very hard to achieve
under a democratic setting in Nigeria.
“There were many other cases of jungle justice
which have been swept under the carpet; the
#ALUU4 saga is still fresh in our memory where
four young University undergraduates were killed
and sent to early grave in cold blood by Aluu
community in Rivers State on the allegation of
cultism and robbery which has not been proven
nor substantiated till date.
“Nigeria is not a lawless country where citizens
can take laws into their own hands, unfortunately,
Nigerian government and security who are the
law enforcers have not laid a good example with
the recent killings of Indigenous People of Biafra
agitators and members of Islamic Movements of
Nigeria (Shiites).
“The mindless killing of the young man and fellow
citizen should be thoroughly investigated and his
killers be brought to book to serve as deterrent to
others who may likely engage in such heinous
acts.”

I’m still open to love –Juliet Ibrahim

Popular Nollywood actress, Juliet Ibrahim, is one of the ladies in the entertainment scene to have endured a broken marriage. Although her marriage to Kwadwo Safo Jnr. lasted for only four years, 2010-2014, it produced a lovely son.
In a chat with Saturday Beats, the delectable Ghanaian actress said that even though she maintains a cordial relationship with her ex-husband, there is no hope of them ever getting back together as a lot of water has passed under the bridge.
“I speak with my ex-husband; it is a must we speak because we have a son together. Everything is fine between us. But there is no way we are getting back together because it is in the past and he has moved on,” she said.
Ibrahim said she is currently open to love again, stating that she does not have any criteria when it comes to her dream man.
“Of course I am open to love. I don’t really look out for anything in a man because I believe if the right person is there, God would definitely bring him my way and I would just feel it. I would just know. I don’t have a list of quality a man must possess. It also has to do with the man’s personality because

Why I’m separated from my husband –Temidayo Ekson

Fast rising actress and mother of four, Temidayo Ekson, has been through a lot, courtesy of her failed marriage. In a chat with Saturday Beats, the actress explained what led to her separation from her husband and how she has been coping with her four children.
She said, “From the outset, I have always wanted to get married to a man I love with all my life. We got married and had kids but marriage is not a bed of roses. I put in everything needed to make the marriage work and I made up my mind to quit acting. Before I got married, I was into modelling but I also quit the modelling gig because I saw my estranged husband as a jealous person. It is just the grace of God that kept me all through the period because I went through hell.
“I did not enjoy my marriage; I endured it instead. If I had wanted to leave my marriage earlier or I had made up my mind not to live under his roof, I would not have had four children for a man. I never said I was tired or fed up about the marriage. Despite the challenges and everything that came our way, I still stood  by him because they say behind every successful man is a woman. I put in everything needed to make the marriage work, I stopped going for parties, I did not have friends, I was a chorister in church but he withdrew me from the choir and I agreed just to keep my home. I just wanted him to be happy at all cost but he did not know my worth; neither did he appreciate me.

Being dark has denied me movie roles – Mercy Johnson

Actress, Mercy Johnson has become a household name today but many may not know the screen diva faced rejection in the movie industry at some point in her career.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, she revealed that some movie producers did not give her slots in their production because of her dark complexion.
She said that when she started out in the Nigerian movie industry, most movie directors and producers always preferred to cast fair-skinned ladies at the expense of talented but dark-skinned ones.
“It is very true that when I was starting out in the movie industry, it was difficult to get roles because of my complexion. I faced that a lot and I tell people that my success is just grace. Somebody once told me that I am too dark but that is where the grace and favour of God comes in. Regardless of everything, most of the dark-skinned actresses that are my contemporaries made it,” she said.

The actress who has featured in scores of movies toldSaturday Beats that it would be unfair of anyone to say she features in any movie without any consideration.
“It is not true that I pick just any movie role. People are different and what appeals to one person might not appeal to the other. One of my most popular movies is ‘Dumebi Goes to School’ and I know how many actresses rejected that script before I accepted to do it. That movie has been one of the highest selling movies in Nollywood till date. I think it is not fair for anyone to say I just jump on any movie production.  As human beings, our strength is in our diversity and differences; this means that what you call trash might not be trash to someone else. I select my scripts and I work with all of my heart because acting is my passion. When I read a script and it appeals to me, I have fun while I do it,” the actress said.

1 Year Later, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Are Still Going Strong: How They Convinced the Skeptics Their Love Was the Real Thing

Aside from the convenient fact that they were both coaches on The Voice, thereby venturing into too-good-to-be-true-for-ratings territory, Blake and Gwen were both incredibly newly single.
First, Blake's marriage to Miranda Lambert ended after four years in July 2015, with the super-star country artists having already spent a fair amount of their union warding off split rumors. That was Blake's second marriage and, while no official reason was given aside from the usual irreconcilable differences, both acknowledged later how painful the split was.
